Levelling Up at Laracon 2025: How MyWork Invests in Continuous Learning to Deliver Better Web Experiences

At MyWork, ongoing learning isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of how we stay at the forefront of modern web development. Last week, our Technical Director, Björn, attended Laracon 2025 at QUT Garden Theatre in Brisbane, joining hundreds of developers exploring what’s next in the world of Laravel.

With two full days of presentations, product launches, technical deep dives and (sadly missed) Mario Kart tournaments, the event was packed with ideas and innovations we’re excited to bring back into our work.

Here’s a look at the highlights and why industry conferences like Laracon play such a big role in the MyWork philosophy of always levelling up.

Why We Attend Developer Conferences

Technology moves fast — and so do the expectations of businesses that rely on websites, apps and digital platforms. Attending conferences gives our team the chance to:

  • Learn directly from the creators of the tools we use
  • Stay ahead of emerging techniques and technologies
  • Bring new best practices back into client projects
  • Connect with global experts
  • Continuously improve the quality, speed and security of our work

For a team that builds and maintains complex systems, this ongoing development is essential.

Laracon 2025: A Snapshot

Hosted at the beautiful QUT Garden Theatre overlooking the Botanical Gardens, Laracon 2025 brought together 200+ developers for 18 presentations covering topics from deployment and performance to security and accessibility.

The talks were high-quality across the board — even the ones not directly related to our workflows sparked new ideas and conversations.

Below are Björn’s standout sessions.

Top Takeaways From Laracon 2025

1. Ship Faster with Blueprint

Jason McCreary (creator of Laravel Shift) introduced Blueprint, a YAML-based tool that turns project “blueprints” into generated Laravel scaffolding.

This is a game-changer for rapidly prototyping new features — and something we’re excited to test internally.

2. The Laravel Keynote — What’s Coming in 2026

The annual keynote offered insights into Laravel’s growth, improvements, and roadmap for 2026. Knowing the direction the framework is heading helps us future-proof the custom applications we manage.

3. Markup Matters — A Fresh Look at Accessibility

Accessibility often gets overlooked, but this talk highlighted how essential it is for people using assistive technologies like screen readers.
Better markup = more inclusive websites.
Expect to see this influencing our frontend practices.

4. Forging Forge — Behind the Rebuild

The developer behind Laravel Forge walked through the engineering behind its complete 2025 revamp.
Since MyWork uses Forge to deploy platforms for clients like ARIA Living, Airtrain and or own internal tools, these improvements directly benefit our workflows.

5. No Dev, No Staging, No Problem!

James from Astatly showed how their team works without traditional staging or development environments.
While unconventional, it sparked valuable conversations about workflow efficiency and automation.

6. Defending the Hornburg — Security with Style

A crowd favourite.
Stephen from Valorin Security delivered a web security masterclass using Lord of the Rings analogies and direct quotes from The Two Towers.
Fun, memorable, and incredibly insightful.

How This Benefits Our Clients

Every conference, course, and tool we invest in is ultimately about supporting our clients.

From improved deployment processes and better accessibility standards to stronger security and faster prototyping — these insights help us:

  • Build higher-quality custom applications
  • Ship features faster
  • Improve security across all systems
  • Reduce deployment friction
  • Ensure projects remain scalable and future-ready

When our team grows, our clients grow too.

A Culture of Continuous Improvement

MyWork’s commitment to learning is what keeps us delivering websites, systems, and digital solutions that don’t just meet industry standards — they exceed them.

Laracon 2025 was a perfect example of why we prioritise staff development: fresh ideas, better tools, inspired thinking and real improvements to the products we build.

We’re already looking forward to next year.
