MyWork upgraded CAWA’s online store from OpenCart to Woo. While rebuilding, we also took the opportunity to refresh their brand with a new logo design.
CAWA are Oceania’s largest retailer solely specialising in diecast and resin scaled model aircraft. They stock a range of civil and military aircraft in their online store for aviation collectors and enthusiasts.
CAWA's logo wishlist included a number of elements, including their full business name/tagline, a twin jet engine aircraft graphic, and a nod to Australia. We kept the graphic elements as streamlined as possible and used shades of blue, resulting in an appealing, modern design suitable for use across various online channels.
WooCommerce Build
We rebuilt CAWA's pre-existing website in Woo, making improvements as we went along. Visually, the new branding has been integrated through the use of colour, font, and modern, full width design elements. Previous customers will notice the upgraded search functionality, new navigation and filter system, and enjoy a smoother checkout experience.
Data Migration
The product migration for CAWA was one of our biggest ever! Over 9000 products were exported from OpenCart and imported to Woo, along with a customer database. The URL structures for the product/category data were also checked and matched to help preserve domain authority on Google.
Pre Orders
One of the final pieces of the puzzle was custom preordering, an important consideration due to the nature of the collectables industry. After some trial and error, we finally "landed" on a plugin which allows for both in-stock and pre-order products to be purchased in the same order.
What MyWork did
The solution
CAWA are a long time MyWork customer, but upgrading to a new platform is always intimidating, especially at this scale!
This build was a team effort with many moving parts, and took many months of work from all involved to get it ready for takeoff.
CAWA kept their OpenCart site up and running while we built the new site on a subdomain “in the background,” frequently going back to the original site to check how things were done and how we could improve. This helped reduce time pressure on the project, allowing us to get everything just right before going live.
Since launch, CAWA have received positive feedback from their dedicated customer base, and we couldn’t be happier to see another of our “OG” clients successfully make the move to Woo.
