What's a standard migration?

Most conventional WordPress business websites should qualify. More complex websites, WordPress Multisite installations, unusually large websites, compromised websites, specialist server configurations or websites requiring significant development or repair may need to be quoted separately.

Managed Hosting FAQs

Can I change WordPress providers without rebuilding my website?

In many cases, yes. If your existing WordPress website is working and can be migrated, MyWork can move the existing website rather than requiring you to rebuild it simply because you’re changing providers.

Can MyWork take over a website built by another developer?

Yes. You don’t need to have originally built your website with MyWork for us to support it. We’ll first review the existing website and determine what’s required to migrate and support it.

Do I need my existing web developer to migrate my website?

Not necessarily. What we need is appropriate access to the website and hosting environment. If you’re unsure what access you currently have, talk to us and we’ll help determine what’s required.

Will my website go offline while it is being migrated?

The website is migrated and tested before the final changeover. We’ll plan the migration to minimise disruption and explain the process before proceeding. I deliberately would not promise “zero downtime”.

Will changing website providers affect my SEO?

Changing providers doesn’t automatically mean changing your website content or URLs. As part of the migration process, we’ll aim to preserve the existing website structure. If there are SEO considerations specific to your website, we’ll identify them during the review.

What happens to my domain name?

Your domain doesn’t need to change simply because your website provider changes. We’ll determine what DNS changes are required as part of the migration.

What if my existing WordPress website has problems?

Tell us. Minor issues don’t necessarily prevent migration, but websites requiring significant repair, malware remediation or development may fall outside the free standard migration offer. We’ll identify this during our initial review.

How much does it cost to migrate a WordPress website to MyWork?

For a limited time, eligible customers moving to an eligible MyWork Complete plan receive a standard WordPress website migration at no additional cost. More complex migrations may require a separate quote.

What happens after MyWork migrates my website?

Your website becomes part of MyWork Complete, which provides premium hosting, WordPress maintenance, priority support and access to the MyWork team for ongoing website improvements.

Can you migrate WooCommerce websites?

Yes, MyWork works with WordPress and WooCommerce websites. Because ecommerce websites can be more complex, we’ll review the website first and confirm whether it qualifies as a standard migration.
